I’m Amanda McKinney, faithful servant, wife, mother and current Yakima County Commissioner, running for Congress to deliver proven, common-sense conservative leadership to Washington, D.C. I was raised in a family rooted in faith, agriculture, respect for law and order and service to our country. I’ve fought tirelessly for our Central Washington values: individual freedoms, strong families, thriving agriculture, fiscal accountability, and support for first responders. From my banking career to county leadership, I’ve achieved real results—challenging COVID overreach, securing water resources, preventing fraud, and advocating for rural communities at the state and national levels.
During the COVID era, I exposed flawed state data that kept our region locked down, enabling over a million people to reopen their businesses, dine out, and gather again. I fiercely opposed masking and mandating COVID vaccines for children, defending parental rights and personal medical choices made privately with trusted doctors. As a staunch Second Amendment advocate, I’ve testified against burdensome gun restrictions, highlighting how fees and training mandates act as taxes on constitutional rights, disproportionately harming working families and endangering the lives of domestic violence victims.
My leadership extends statewide and nationally: serving on the Washington State Association of Counties Board of Directors and Legislative Steering Committee, elected to the National Association of Counties (NACo) Western Interstate Region board, appointed vice chair of NACo’s Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, and selected to serve on the federal Wildland Fire Leadership Council. I successfully gained support from commissioners across America in passing a resolution demanding federal agencies adhere to the Administrative Procedures Act, ensuring local input in rulemaking. I was grateful that President Trump signed an Executive order shortly after his inauguration which directed federal agencies to follow all applicable laws. I’ve worked to overturn the Biden administration’s attempt to introduce grizzly bears into the North Cascades in Washington, protecting farmers, ranchers, and communities from unnecessary risks to livestock, safety, and economic stability. I have met with the Trump Administration’s DOJ and EPA attorneys advocating to cease weaponizing deep-state-activist-made environmental rules against our local dairies and agriculture producers.
Water and agriculture are our district’s heartbeat—I’ve championed the Yakima Basin Integrated Plan and the need for building new water storage, allocated ARPA funds to purchase senior water rights to create the Yakima County Water Bank, and advanced floodplain restoration to enable growth and protect properties, a need highlighted by recent flooding emergencies. I’ve opposed the Horse Heaven Hills wind project, raising alarms about secretive water rights transfers bypassing longtime farmers and increasing risk in high-wildfire areas due to restrictions on aerial firefighting that endangers homes and lives. A staunch defender of our agriculture lands, I have vigilantly worked to protect them from conversion to industrial “Green” energy scam wastelands at the hand of foreign adversaries like China.
Drawing from my banking expertise, I implemented fraud screenings for COVID aid, uncovering over $6 million in fraudulent claims to protect taxpayers. A proud supporter of law enforcement—my father a retired officer—I’ve funded sheriff resources, K-9 units and spearheaded a new emergency communications system for all first responders. I have advocated for state and federal resources to protect our communities and fight back against violent criminals and the stream of deadly fentanyl resulting from inexcusable open-border policies by the Biden Administration. I proudly supported our brave Fire Firefighters during catastrophic fires and tenaciously pursued funding opportunities for rapid repairs to vital infrastructure, like the heavily damaged Yakima-Tieton Irrigation District canal.
In my personal time, I’ve led efforts with Let’s Go Washington, helping pass Initiative 2066 to repeal natural gas restrictions and preserve energy choice, emphasizing the critical role of our lower Snake River dams and extensive hydro-power network, nuclear, and natural gas in providing reliable, affordable energy for Washington’s homes, farms, and industries. This fight underscores the need for energy independence and national security through a resilient grid that reduces reliance on foreign sources and withstands disruptions. As a mother and athlete, I am a fierce advocate for initiatives protecting fairness in girls’ sports, ensuring biological males do not compete against females to keep spaces safe, promote equal opportunities for women enshrined in Title IX, and honor biological reality.
I am a strong supporter of President Trump and his America First agenda: Secure borders and enforcement of Immigration law. Unleashing American energy dominance. Reviving our economy and putting American workers first. Rebuild and modernize our military. Dismantle bureaucracy and end the weaponization of government. Protect American values and families. My husband and I are also proud to be a part of the Turning Point USA family. Together, we are committed to promoting the foundational beliefs that Charlie Kirk so courageously shared with America’s youth and the world: Be courageous in your faith. Believe in American and individual exceptionalism. Defend individual liberties. Preserve and promote free markets. Uphold the traditional American values of marriage and family. We are proud to support Erika and the TPUSA team as they carry on his mission.
In Congress, I will champion secure borders, affordable and reliable energy, protected rights, and policies empowering farmers, families, and rural America—while continuing to focus on changing our home in Washington for the better, remaining a strong local presence in our communities.
Join me—with Central Washington’s fighting spirit, we’ll defend our way of life here at home and in D.C.
